Evinrude E tec vs 4 stroke

 1. torque, Evinrude E-TEC leaves 4-stroke rivals dead in the water. Whilst 4-strokes make a power stroke every other revolution of the crankshaft, Evinrude E-TEC makes a power stroke every revolution. Myth 6 4-stroke outboards are quieter than new DI 2-stroke engines. Fact 6: No other outboard engine gives you a quieter boating experience than Evinrude
 2. Contrary to popular belief about 2 strokes, new Evinrude E-Tecs are cleaner and quieter than four-stroke outboard motors, just as fuel efficient and more imp..

 4. d your application. Four strokes excell in fuel economy below approx 2500 RPMs and have awesome idle characteristics. A majority of the time the 2 stroke will be a little better on top end and have a higher rate of thrust as compared to a 4 stroke that would have a smooth consistant pull thru the power band
 5. I have been in many boats with many different motors.and the E-TEC has way more torque than ay 4 stroke. I want to see the tug-o-war with the Merc Opti though! We don't see that one, do we??!!! Any 2 stroke will out grunt a 4 stroke given similar displacement, etc. Its physics. The Merc Opti would out pull all those 4 strokes as well
 6. From my experience most modern 4 strokes are definitely quieter (only slightly) than etecs. No arguments there If outboard noise is the ducks nuts on your performance criteria then a 4 stroke is definately your go to choice. Re smoke. The new etecs are as good or very close to the 4 strokes in terms of smoke/fumes
 7. The facts are that Evinrude's E-Tec produces 20 percent more torque at 15 percent better fuel economy when compared to 4-stroke outboards. On paper, this adds up to longer range and 15% more speed than the same size 4-stroke. A good dealer will able to give you objective advice regarding performance suited to your needs. Size Count

Evinrude E tec 2 stroke vs 4 stroke outboard

Är Evinrude så bra , efter två säsonger med min nya E-tec 75 hk så har motorn fungerat på ett sätt som man skall förvänta sig av en ny utombordare, jag var i valet och kvalet om jag skulle välja två eller fyrtaktare och jag ägnade mååånga timmar på nätet där jag läste omdömen samt erfarenheter av BRP och Evinrude och även andra fabrikat som Yamaha och Suzuki Ive seen a lot of propoganda abouth the E-tech , to the point that im thinking of an upgrade from my 90hp Honda 4 stroke ta a 115hp e-tech. My boat is a 5.3m Yalta Craft and it takes a bit to long to get on the plane for my liking. Wondering if anyone can tell me if they live up to the hype: - As quiet as a four stroke - More fuel efficient than a four stroke Obviously they will be more. This outboard also boasts lower emissions than 4-strokes and oil in the fuel will only end up going into combustion. Absolutely NO oil will end up in the in the water, making it a better choice for the environment. If impacting the environment is a concern of yours, the E-TEC can help ease your mind when it comes to boating emissions Evinrude E-tec vs. Yamaha: Hole Shot - YouTube. Cheaper to maintain : On average, maintenance costs for an Evinrude outboard engine are up to 50% less than maintenance costs for a four-stroke outboard over the first three years of ownership. My E-Tec saves me thousands. Quieter : An Evinrude E-TEC is up to 50% quieter than the old 2-strokes

Sorry to say but this is totally false. There are alot of boats out there that cannot take the weight of the new 4 strokes. Alot of boats made pre 1996 can.. Most of the claims about E-Tecs being lighter in weight than comparable four strokes are quite true - but not for the smaller E-Tecs... In short the E-tec system requires a much heavier fly wheel than a similar four stroke (an E-Tec runs at 48 volts internally...) and in the smaller engines that's a real handicap.. If your looking at the 50-60 4 stroke they are lighter but much less kick to getting on plane, plus less speed. Running 15 pitch aluminum. Really satisified with performance ( am going to try moving batteries under passenger console to see if makes difference) and happy to go with ETEC If you insist of serving the E-TEC at 100 hour intervals like the 4S, the E-TEC is at worst about $1000 more expensive than a 4S (if the owner does all the work), at best a wash if the dealer does all the work (again over 1000 hours) Robbins Marine has been taking care of boaters and their families for over 55 years! The Etec's gear box is bigger and has a better ratio for developing torque. The biggest factor is simple, a 2 stroke making power on every stroke vs the 4 stroke every other. He also swaped out the Etec 150 for the Etec 200 and only gained a small amount of time and speed. That says a lot about the 150 HO The four-stroke engines, on the other hand, are better for those situations, but less forceful out on the open water. They're better for smooth cruising across calm bodies of water. It's not that they can't take the action on the water, but you will need to maneuver a bit more. The case with Evinrude two-stroke vs. four-stroke is similar Evinrude E-TEC is the best of both technologies. It provides the quiet, efficiency and cleanliness many customers associate with the 4-stroke outboards, combined with the torque, throttle response, quick acceleration and raw power associated with the 2-stroke outboard. The technology is considered 2-Stroke, Direct Injection Yes, but let's really compare engines - the E-TEC 40 is the smallest HP Motor on that block. The E-TEC 60, on the same block, has the same weight. To get a four-stroke 60 EFI from mercury, you're looking at 4 cylinders and 248 lbs. I'll give ground that the mfgrs have done a pretty good job keeping the four-stroke weight down on the smaller.

Evinrude E-TEC is the best of both technologies. It provides the quiet, efficiency and cleanliness many customers associate with the 4-stroke outboards, combined with the torque, throttle response, quick acceleration and raw power associated with the 2-stroke outboard The 40hp E-TEC is a detuned 60hp E-TEC. Based on the research I have done, one E-TEC model is no more reliable or more fuel efficient than the other. All E-TEC outboard motors are fuel efficient and reliable. I have a 2011 Evinrude E-TEC 40hp. Based on my own experience, I can only compare it to a 1971 Evinrude 50hp Did you see this? Unbelievable

WINNER E-TEC. The 50hp E-TEC vs. the 50hp Mercury 4-stroke had almost identical results as with the first test. The only difference I saw was that the Merc, although still slower than the E-TEC, seemed to be faster than the Yamaha. WINNER E-TEC. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the current outboards on the market Re: Choose, Evinrude Etc 25Hp Or Yamaha 4-Stroke 25HP It depends on a lot of factors. Local dealer support, weight, personal preference and general maintenance expectations. The E-tec is generally lighter in weight Yamaha - 203 lbs (20 shaft) E-Tec - 150-180 lbs (20 depending on options) The Yamaha typically has more dealer support In recent years 15hp 4 strokes. They also usually have a really ragged prop. Even with this low power they have no problem planing this boat with 2 full grown adults and gear. They will run 18-19mph gps. Whatever the engine type, you have the entire technical specifications for a better choice That comes down to the two-stroke's monster midrange power. Both are nice motors and you can't go wrong with either one. I prefer the E-Tec (on my 4th one) for its light weight, minimal maintenance, and two stroke torque. Most all of the bugs have been figured out and since the introduction of the new style injectors in late '08, they are pretty trouble free as long as you feed them clean fuel Evinrudes two-stroke vs Suzuki's four-stroke technology is tough to beat regarding maintenance needs and durability. Suzuki motors seem to go and go. Re: E TEC or 4 stroke. Put 175 miles on the water this past week and had lots of four stroke and E-tecs to listen to. At wide open throttle there is no significant difference in noise between the two. I will say however that the E-tec sounds sweet compared to the four strokes that seem to have an I'm struggling note to them

In fact, on average, the cost of servicing a 4-stroke outboard engine is three times more expensive than the cost of servicing an Evinrude E-TEC engine over this period. Evinrude also gives you automatic winterisation and no spring tune-up. The DI engines use very little oil compared to traditional two-strokes, but the cost of the new-age synthetic oils is far more than what you'd pay for a bottle of standard marine two-stroke oil
 3. ating many wires, cables, and hoses. A surprising trait is weight. While two-strokes were historically lighter than four-strokes, manufacturers have been shaving weight off of their engines for years and this is no longer necessarily true

The 4 strokes have made leaks and bounds in recent years. Merc maintenance is super easy. Here is a video of a Evinrude 150 G2 HO outperforming a Yamaha 200 The reason for this is simpletwo-strokes feature a power stroke for every turn of the crankshaft, whereas four-strokes offer a power stroke on every other turn of crankshaft, essentially dead-heading half of their cylinders. This is why when discussing four strokes there is no replacement for displacement. Re: Evinrude E-Tec vs Mercury OptiMax Chad: I'm no expert but I can share my experience with you. I've also been around some Optimax motors and have found them loud.

As i undestand it, the e-tec is newer (and better) technology So the two stroke in this instance is firing three times for the 4 strokes one. Thus the two stroke produces more power sooner, once again, this is not new information. Discussions like this go all the way back to when the 4 stroke outboard was introduced to compete with the two stroke outboards, it's nothing new Is there any comparison with the E-tec 115hp vs New Merc 115hp 4-stroke? I just watched a video of a Merc 125hp Opti and Merc 115hp 4-stroke and the 4-stroke blows it away in hole shot. This new Merc 4-stroke is lighter and more cubic inch than the E-tec

Objectively, if I was buying now - I would probably lean toward an E-tec or a 4-stroke,. The two-stroke outboard engines use the same sort of E-TEC direct-injection technology that has been found in Ski-Doo two-stroke snowmobiles for the past dozen years. In fact, the E-TEC technology was first unveiled on an outboard engine in February of 2003 at the Miami Boat Show, which we attended on behalf of our sister publication, Boating Industry magazine , which offers more insight on. Indeed, the F150 is quite heavy. Originally, I was trying to stay close to 400 pound territory. Originally, I had ruled out 150 4 strokes as being out of budget and borderline too heavy, whereas, I could accomplish what I want with either the DF 140 or the E-TEC 130 for significantly less money. Evinrude, an offshoot of Canada-based BRP Inc, is the only outboard maker in Australia to receive environmental certification for its entire two-stroke E-Tec engine range. It has done this by adding the same direct injection technology - the ability to precisely control the amount of fuel entering the cylinder - that is commonly used on four-stroke engines Evinrude's E-TEC 115 has not only billed itself as a stand-alone powerhorse, but also as a likely upgrade to the venerable 90 E-TEC. In our opinion, this 115 E-TEC has enough power to handle hard running offshore, as well as vigorous watersports inshore. Key Features. 2. E-TEC engines won't need scheduled maintenance for a warranty period of three years or 300 hours of normal recreational use, according to BRP. Honda marketing manager Senger says 4-strokes can run tighter tolerances than 2-strokes, which expose pistons and rings to a lot of wear with so many ports in the cylinders

I'd rather not get into a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke contest right now. I always thought that if you run slow/cruising, go 4 stroke. If you run hard on the throttle (like bass fishermen), go with the 2 stroke.
