Sorry to say but this is totally false. There are alot of boats out there that cannot take the weight of the new 4 strokes. Alot of boats made pre 1996 can.. Most of the claims about E-Tecs being lighter in weight than comparable four strokes are quite true - but not for the smaller E-Tecs... In short the E-tec system requires a much heavier fly wheel than a similar four stroke (an E-Tec runs at 48 volts internally...) and in the smaller engines that's a real handicap.. If your looking at the 50-60 4 stroke they are lighter but much less kick to getting on plane, plus less speed. Running 15 pitch aluminum.
